Who you do business with is just as important as the quality of the product
You've made the decision to remodel your home. Congratulations! Now you're deciding what company you will trust with
your most important asset—your home. Choosing a contractor is an important decision. You want a company that puts
your complete satisfaction first in all they do, and will be around to service you long after the completion of your
installation.

|
As you begin searching for a home remodeling contractor, consider the following:
|

|
Is the contractor licensed?
Contractors are required to be licensed. Licensing involves lengthy training for testing and is a sure sign your
contractor is competent to perform the desired work. It is important to check your contractor's licenses. Many "say"
they are licensed, but are not.
|

|
Is the contractor fully insured?
Insurance protects you. A dependable contractor will carry substantial liability insurance and workman's compensation
insurance. Liability insurance protects your property in case of damage caused by the contractor and/or their
employees. Workman's compensation insurance protects you from any liability should the contractor and/or a
hired worker be injured on your property. If your contractor does not carry workman's compensation coverage, you are
liable for any injuries suffered on your property. Beware. You may be told that your homeowners' policy will cover
injuries on your property. This is usually not true. Most homeowners' policies will not cover this risk. Make your
contractor show you a copy of their policy before signing a contract or agreeing to work.
|

|
Will the work be professionally done?
Only contractors who employ full-time, professionally certified installers should be trusted with your most important
asset—your home. Reputable contractors will ask you to evaluate their performance on the job and the quality of their
workmanship.
|

|
Will the product and the workmanship be guaranteed?
A quality contractor will provide a warranty on labor and materials. If you need a repair, it should be a simple, easy
process for you, with no red tape or endless phone calls with no results.
|

|
Is the contractor willing to guarantee the best price?
If you find a better price on a product or service, your contractor should be willing to match it or demonstrate how
their product is superior. Putting your satisfaction first should be your contractor's primary consideration.
